Tom

For the past 15 years, I’ve worked with large and small developers to come up with creative solutions that maximise the value of their land or property.

However, when friends and family came seeking architectural advice, I realised that approach was often missing from residential projects.

My strength lies in walking the line between creativity and reality which is particularly important with building costs having increased so dramatically in recent years.

As practice, we think creatively about the space you have and what you want to achieve, bringing top level architecture and design to even the smallest project and most modest budget.

We have a flexible approach to our services and can work with you whether you already have a builder lined up or plan to undertake some of the work yourself.

  • From reviewing estate agent plans to walkarounds, we love to get involved at the earliest point to help create a vision and also to highlight the pitfalls. We’ve got years of altering estate plans for friends and family to prove it!

  • “The Brief” is the most important part of any project. It layouts out your requirements; spatial, aesthetic and financial, which you use to make and justify decisions. Get this as detailed as possible - as early as possible - and your project will run smoother.

  • Maybe you’ve bought a house or property and you’re looking for some inspiration. Perhaps you’ve already had some proposals drawn up or inherited some. Have the layouts looked at with fresh eyes, without judgement, and see if there is another way to fulfil your brief.

  • A wider, deeper look at the possibilities of altering a house, property or site with critical analysis, creativity and reality thrown in. These studies can refine the brief and focus the direction of your project.

  • A wide range of alterations or changes to a building can be undertaken within permitted development rights. From extensions to changes of use, utilising permitted development rights can often be a cost effective way of creating extra space and value for your home.

  • Possibly the most critical milestone to pass in any project; the planning system is a complex and bewildering world which you will most likely need expert guidance navigating. With years of in-depth experience, we always try to identify and mitigate as many planning issues as early as possible before submitting.

    We act on your behalf and will negotiate any minor alterations required to get your project over the line.

  • Adding layers of technical information to the drawings and creating a written document of your specific requirements will help you keep in control of conversations with builders to ensure you get the best price possible for your project.

    This is also the stage where you will need to engage with other experts such as engineers and we can co-ordinate all the strands of information into one working set for the builders.

  • Regardless of how great our building team is, you might want someone to just check things are going to plan or to help find solutions to issues that arise on-site.

    Whether a pre-arranged scheduled progress meeting or an ad-hoc check-in, we can ensure the design intent is carried through the build.
